On Friday, Nov 20th the state of Illinois will be officially in Tier 3 Coronavirus Mitigations. We are also under a stay at home advisory. This is a tricky notion to navigate as we are not a gym or fitness center. We are not a parks department nor a sport. We have always kinda fallen through the cracks of what is specifically addressed by the state. It leaves us a little unsure of how to react. We are a school in some ways. We have always been well under our 25% capacity. Under 10 people in the space at a time. We never take off our masks, We sanitize our hands multiple times in the span of an hour. We space ourselves appropriately the entire time and we sanitize all commonly touched surfaces between every class. We take all of these precautions very seriously.
We would like some input from our students families on how we should move forward, if we should move forward and what we could do in the meantime to keep ourselves engaged and happy during this tricky time. If you could please take the time to answer this survey we would appreciate it.
In the meantime we are planning on having classes Weds the 18th, Thurs the 19th, Saturday the 21st, Monday the 23rd so that we get a chance to communicate with everyone comfortable with attending this current week. We will be videoing bits of class this evening and Thursday so if you are planning on attending dress for video. Videos will only be accessed by our students via this website with a password.
Some ideas we are floating are.
A choreography challenge - Where we will post a couple level appropriate dances and challenge you all to learn, and video yourself performing them in your own space, your own costuming preferences, etc.. We will then make a compilation of the videos to present to you all.
Barre work videos - We will video and upload the current barre work so you can all continue your exercises from home.
Photoshoots - 1 on 1 photoshoot/interviews where each student can schedule a time to do a 6 photo shoot and a small interview to be featured on our social media and website. Approx an hour long appointment required.
We will put a pin in the session and just continue on when we are able. Please bear with us as we try to navigate this... again... and stay afloat. We will do our best. In the meantime please feel free to drop into ballet classes on Thursday and Saturday to make up anything you have missed. We will tabulate class credit and all that once we are back so everyone receives the classes they paid for. No worries in that regard.
Also, if you are thinking of Christmas gifts for your dancers... The shop will be open as long as we are able during regular hours so please come purchase a gift or 2. We will be receiving some very cool dancer themed, handmade masks as well as some other fun fabrics to sell in the shop. They are from the artist that made the ones I have been wearing and they come in 3 sizes. They are my favorite! They will be one of a kind so if you like it you have to grab it. I don't believe I will have many duplicates.
