Class Descriptions

Baby Ballerinas ~ ages 2-3

Picture
It’s time to twinkle and twirl like a ballerina.  Your little dancer will be inspired in this class by the use of age appropriate creative play (hula hoops, beanbag frogs, and fun sing along music) while learning pre-ballet skills & having fun with other kids their age. In this class the focus is on core motor skills, having fun and learning what a classroom is all about.

Pre Ballet ~ ages 3-4

Picture
The class offers the perfect combination of beginning classical ballet discipline (foot positions, graceful arm movements, basic steps, beginning barre work), and creative play (hula hoops, beanbag frogs, and fun sing along music). Children build core motor skills, gain coordination, discipline and creativity. Your child will adore this class!

Ballet ~ ages 5+

Picture
Age/Level Appropriate Cecchetti Ballet Technique: proper posture & alignment, arm & feet positions, arabesques, port de bras, 8 body positions, & French vocabulary. Students learn new choreography and barre work each session. Having the two levels in each class creates a great dynamic for the students. Beginners have a built in support system in their level II classmates. All of our students learn the abc's of ballet and have lots of fun doing it. We encourage anyone with the desire to work towards dancing en pointe to go for it. We encourage everybody of every age and body type to come out and give it a try. Ballet is a wonderful way to to continually challenge your mind and body at a pace set by you and you alone.

Lyrical Ballet ~ teen/adult

Picture
Lyrical Ballet is a fusion of ballet and jazz technique. Generally, it is  performed to slower music with very fluid movements. Lyrical dance interprets music or words, showing the audience the emotion of the particular piece. The lines are rooted in ballet technique but dancing 'outside the box' is encouraged. Our lyrical class is specially designed for beginning to intermediate teen and adult students. We use a floor barre based warm up, learn easy to dance choreography and utilize 'mood lighting' to encourage creativity. This class is designed to nurture the love of dance in our students. Continuing students are encouraged to bring in music that inspires them.

Ballet Fit Class ~ teen/adult

Picture
This hour long, mood lit, ballet workout class will stretch, strengthen, tone & lengthen. Think yoga, meets ballet floor barre, meets mat pilates. Absolutely NO experience required. Work your muscles slowly and deliberately, culminating in a strength building, yet relaxing mind-body connection. Gain strength, co-ordination, grace, toning and flexibility.  Walk tall and dance away with the feeling you've had a proper workout .

Performance/Solo ~ teen/adult

Picture
This independent study/collaborative performance class will prepare students throughout the year to perform a highly polished solo piece in 'Time To Groove', our year end recital. Students choose their music, costume & choreography and are guided through the process of creating a dance all their own.  Open to any student enrolled in at least 1.5 hours of ballet/lyrical a week. 6 Student Maximum. Enroll early to reserve your spot.
